The Challenge

An oil and gas company had gone through multiple acquisitions and experienced supplier attrition as well as documentation issues. Prints and bill of materials (BOM) were hard to define.

The Linear Solution

Linear did an obsolete and alternate material analysis. Utilizing design for manufacturing (DFM), Linear updated old processes and antiquated technology. New documentation packages were created and the electronics assembly was streamlined into current manufacturing processes.

The Success

A prototype was built and tested. Linear did the box build which communicated with satellites to collect data and perform pipeline trouble shooting. The new documentation package helped the oil and gas company achieve ISO and CSA certification.

The Challenge

An asset tracking device company had a product idea that could track people, inventory, temperatures of traveling perishables, and even hospital machinery. They needed to have a prototype built and tested prior to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January in less than 2 weeks.

The Linear Solution

Linear utilized Rapid Prototyping to create a product. The prototype was approved and tested and a product was then manufactured.

Success

The product made the CES deadline and is currently in mass production with UL and CSA approval.

The Challenge

A medical device manufacturing company inherited an out-dated product as part of an acquisition.  The product was being utilized in many hospitals.  Linear was presented with the challenge of finding obsolete parts and discontinued drawings to support this product and bring it up-to-date to meet FDA Requirements.

The Linear Solution

Linear updated the bill of materials (BOM) including a list of the raw materials, sub-assemblies, intermediate assemblies, sub-components, components, parts and the quantities of each needed to manufacture the end product.  Linear also updated drawings from old files and provided alternate parts and suppliers to support the product.

Success

Because of the tenacity of the Linear team, there are no obsolete parts involved in the production of 10 circuit boards that are required to support the formerly out-dated product.  The product can be manufactured for two more years.  The product is in compliance with FDA regulations.

The Challenge

An aerospace company had a legacy product that needed continued support. A current customer wanted to continue to use the legacy product because they didn’t want to invest in new product design and Military certifications. The aerospace company brought Linear the legacy product and asked that it be duplicated.

The Linear Solution

Linear recreated the bill of materials (BOM) and electronic files for PCB. All obsolete materials were found or alternate materials were utilized. Strict attention was given to acquisition of the materials to ensure none were counterfeit.

Success

The product was built and shipped out on time. The product was tested and approved by the final end user, the customer using the legacy product.

The Challenge

A wastewater treatment company’s engineering group abandoned the design of a new product half way through the process. The product was never completed and the engineering company would not share their proprietary information to help another company complete the project.

The Linear Solution

Linear updated the bill of materials (BOM) including a list of the raw materials, sub-assemblies, intermediate assemblies, sub-components, components, parts and the quantities of each needed to manufacture the end product. Linear had the circuit board re-engineered to a working unit. Linear also upgraded all aspects of hardware and software files.

Success

The product is in full production and sold throughout the world.
